CA4SH partners come together for a spring update

On May 24th, the Coalition of Action for Soil Health (CA4SH) organised its second meeting of coalition members, bringing together over 60 parties from the public sector, research institutions and more who are invested in scaling up soil health globally.

This partners meeting provided the opportunity to connect once again, share progress and provide a couple of key updates from within the Coalition. These focal points underscore that the Coalition is a collection of efforts among a diverse group of stakeholders from different sectors, who are working together towards a common goal.

Here are some key takeaways from the meeting:

  • The coalition has recently launched its website, which is a source of information, updates, flagship initiatives and upcoming events. Keep an eye on the website for upcoming, exciting content (like this!).

  • We plan to take forward the Soil Health Declaration as a critical solution for Climate Action at the COP27. CA4SH has already drafted the declaration, and we strongly encourage all interested members to reach out to us at coalitionforsoilhealth@gmail.com to contribute, provide feedback and get involved!

  • Within the UN Food System Summit, a new coordination hub that aims to support new coalitions has formed. CA4SH had its first meeting with the coordination hub, and the next meeting took place on June 13th with further collaboration in sight!

  • We invite members that are clearly aligned with the vision and mission of CA4SH to be part of the core group, advisory or steering committee, advising on the direction of the coalition. Get in touch for more information!

The final portion of the session was devoted to information sharing. Daniela Solis from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Penny Wensley, Australian Soil Advocate, and John Crawford from the University of Glasgow, Global Soil Health Programme (GSHP) gave short presentations at the meeting.

Stay tuned for more updates from CA4SH partners as we roll out our news cycle, develop a hub of resources and knowledge products, and take integrated action to improve global soil health.
