About the Initiative

The Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH) is a multi stakeholder organization that galvanizes collaboration toward the common goal of scaling global soil health. CA4SH has a membership of nearly 200 public and private sector representatives, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, farmer organizations and cooperatives, and more – many of which are youth-led.

To leverage this extensive partnership and highlight the important role that youth play in soil health advocacy and action, CA4SH has initiated the #Youth4Soil Initiative..

The initiative fosters relationships between organizations, and create a network of youth advocates who are supported by the Coalition through skill building, professional counseling, networking, and more. The Initiative will also facilitate sponsorship opportunities to enable youth soil health advocates to attend international dialogue.

  • There is no set structure, however, the CA4SH Secretariat will assist in outlining goals, facilitating connections, and following up on progress. The only expectation is that mentors and mentees help raise awareness of multi-stakeholder collaboration for soil health.

  • Individuals and organizations interested in participating can do so in three ways:

    1. Direct mentorship between a youth group or individual and an established professional

    2. Funding for youth delegates to attend international events and advocate for soil health

    3. Provide funding for a youth-led soil health initiative

  • Mentees are soil health advocates between the ages of 18 and 35 who are interested in developing their skills and capacity to advocate for soil health in their respective fields.

    Mentees will:

    1. Create a personal plan of action with mentors and develop an activity timeline

    2. Be engaged to participate in speaking opportunities

    3. Gather insights and lessons learned to inform learning notes, briefs and be engaged to contribute to CA4SH knowledge outputs

    4. Advocate for global soil health and represent CA4SH
