We grow. We eat. | #Youth4Soil Solutions Showcase

Date: 6th March , 2025

Time: 4pm EAT

Background

In today’s world, youth possess unparalleled enthusiasm and innovative ideas crucial for driving meaningful change. This is extremely important especially since only 17 per cent of the SDG targets are on track according to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2024 report. The #Youth4Soil Solutions Showcase aims to harness the potential of young minds in soil health advocacy, showcasing their contributions to attract donors, enhance visibility and facilitate learning through on-the-ground experiences. This event will also highlight the burgeoning youth and restoration movement, positioning young advocates as key players in the global soil health dialogue.

Key Objectives

  1. Promote Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Foster meaningful connections between various youth-led interventions in soil health, encouraging the exchange of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches.

  2. Exhibit Youth Impact in Soil Health Advocacy: Showcase inspiring stories and initiatives led by young advocates, demonstrating their pivotal role in advancing soil health and sustainability goals.

  3. Grow the Network of Soil Health Advocates: Expand the community of passionate soil health advocates by providing a platform for networking, learning, and collaboration.

  4. Innovative Solutions Creation: Inspire and facilitate the development of innovative, scalable solutions to pressing soil health challenges, driven by the ingenuity and determination of youth.

  5. Promote Entrepreneurship: Encourage youth to explore entrepreneurial opportunities within the  green skills portfolio, supporting sustainable agricultural practices and economic growth

  6. Attract investments in youth-led projects for soil health: Introduce donors to opportunities for micro-financing youth-led projects. Youth often work with highly limited resources; this event will facilitate connections.

Rationale

A recent #YouthSoil Brief highlights several avenues for youth to meaningfully engage and get involved in scaling soil health including Awareness Raising, Innovation & Technology, Policy Advocacy, Community Engagement, Education and Science & Research.

In light of this, the Youth4Soil Solutions Showcase Webinar serves as a vital platform to amplify youth voices, attract potential donors, and increase visibility for impactful soil health initiatives. By promoting collaboration, showcasing successes, and encouraging innovative solutions, this webinar aims to create a robust network of young soil health advocates dedicated to driving positive environmental and social change.
