Discover SOM 2024: The first edition in Africa

A very warm welcome to the 9th International Symposium on Soil Organic Matter (SOM 2024)! We invite you to join the leading global researchers in the field of soil organic matter for an innovative and inspiring event at the UM6P Conference Centre in Ben Guerir, Morocco from May 26 to May 31, 2024.

This symposium will highlight the latest discoveries on soil organic matter and reinforce its importance in global decarbonization. SOM 2024 features plenary and keynote speeches by renowned scientists, contributed oral talks and posters by participants, awards for the top student contributions and exhibitions by publishers, technical service providers and soil organic matter advisors. Special sessions will be led by invited panelists to discuss the complex issues related to the management of soil organic matter for soil health and decarbonization, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Africa. As this is the first time this symposium takes place in Africa, SOM 2024 will be a unique opportunity to understand Africa's vital contribution to our shared global challenges.
