The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is coming fast and CA4SH is ready.
We have created a draft proposal for governments to issue a Soil Health Resolution at COP27. This initiative from CA4SH Global partners is to help advocate for governmental backing to transform COP27 into the COP of Soil Health and Food.
Soils are the third-largest carbon sink and at the very core of our food systems, but have never been officially recognized at the COP. With governmental leadership and multi-stakeholder partnerships, co-signing such a declaration can change this.

The Soil Health Resolution is a set of commitments to enable and scale healthy soil practices to mitigate and adapt to climate change, restore biodiversity, improve water resilience, enhance food and nutrition security, and protect natural and cultural heritage.
Available in five languages, the Resolution for Soil Health is a set of commitments to enable and scale healthy soil practices to mitigate and adapt to climate change, restore biodiversity, improve water resilience, enhance food and nutrition security, and protect natural and cultural heritage.
In this presentation, the objectives, desired outcomes, pathways and benefits of adopting the Soil Resolution are broken down, enabling cross-cutting communication of the need for advancing soil health at the UNFCCC COP27 and beyond.
In this official press release from 18 AUGUST 2022, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNCCD) announced that the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) will hold the first-ever Food Systems Pavilion. CA4SH and other leading international organisations will co-host the event.
Created to aid in disseminating knowledge about the Soil Health Resolution of Soil Champions at COP27, this brochure provides details on the core objectives of the Resolution, and provides readers with links to more information.
To make progress on some of the world’s most pressing challenges such as food security, nutrition, climate change and inclusive economic opportunity we must look at soil as a vital asset. The Call to Action for Soil Health -- issued in July 2021 by the Private Sector Guiding Group Coalition for Soil Health -- is inspired by these challenges and the UN Food Systems Summit.
